We have wholeheartedly enjoyed seeing the adult ladybugs evolve but now it's time to let them go. We released them into our garden on Friday. We zoomed onto Zz with zoo play using many materials and we created our own animals for our zoo, check the hallway bulletin board. If I Ran The Zoo was our inspiration. Zz also let us cut, draw and stamp zigzags and we tried crayon rubbing the word zebra but that skill is tricky, ask us. We continued to try new things in Moving On unit and wrote about one new idea for the summer. We reviewed rhyming and sorting just for fun. Chapel had us compare Jesus' church to one whole body and we are one part of that and Ms. Livvy told us EACH piece is important, we all need each other. Gym had us moving with challenging stations for our whole body balance and stretching that's for sure. At library we talked about butterflies as other classes are getting ready to release them soon and heard a great story about a butterfly. Finally we got to pick out library books for the last time, oh my.

We hope you enjoyed your special Mom breakfast as much as we did preparing for it. The gifts, the poster, the songs and the pics, you are loved! We tied this event into the Big Day concept of Moving On. We talked about how we felt in September versus now and how we've changed, it was a great discussion. Many centers this week involved saying "I did it" or "I can do it" and try again. We also highlighted the letter Yy with yarn play, yellow painting and reading the word "yes". Chapel focused on the story of Lydia, and how she was confident to tell others about Jesus. We've been observing Ladybug Land and can identify all 4 stages of life so we illustrated that in our journal. Now we wait as the pupa rest then shed their skin! Gym took us outside again where we played whole group games such as Red Light Green Light, What Time is it Mr. Fox? and Duck Duck Goose. All of these emphasized waiting, taking turns and not always getting picked. Library taught us a great lesson about being determined in Tiny and the Big Dig. Finally and most importantly.... Happy Mother's Day to all, it is a gift to teach your child and we're grateful you share them with UDCNS
Apr 30 - May 4
We wrapped up April illustrating a favorite planting song in our journals, while also practicing songs for Mom! Reviewing the U V W and X singing X-ray man song a lot, completing the directions on the umbrella paper and valuing our friends words when we had a conflict. Ms. Livvy had us sing "Following Jesus wherever He may go" so we understood how Peter healed by believing in Jesus. We spent a good deal of time in the garden and partnered with the 3s class to show them how things grow and they planted some more seeds!. Ms. Linda has us practicing Moving on songs already and gym took us outside to the back field for some great group play, We illustrated our spring poem partnering with a classmate to illustrate one line at a time. With all this lovely weather, library reminded us to unplug (see the author's explanation) and to be like humpty After the Fall.
