We kicked in 2018 trying a variety of karate moves with Pre-K but then mother nature kicked us with 2 snow days at the end of the week! We began our BigDay unit on Amazing Animals identifying the biggest, smallest, fastest, longest and more. It was interesting and a great concept to develop at home, comparisons of any sort. We did get chapel in so we talked about the Wisemen visiting baby Jesus. Our writings about our gifts for Him are posted as well.
At show-n-tell we shared gifts we've received and we could go on all day with this oral exercise! We also got to celebrate Maggie's belated birthday at snack, clementines and chocolate, all good! We were cut short due to weather so lots of info and fun to be tacked on next week. Stay warm
This week had us moving! We danced to a song called “Move” and showed off many dance moves. We tumbled on the gym mats, we were marvelous. With Big Day, we talked about insects for our amazing animals and drew our own bugs and wrote about it. Mm brought color monkeys to our room (early sight word exposure!), and we sang the monkey mimic song, ask us. At centers, we constructed some marble mazes , we played the memory game with Mrs. Falconio, and for math, we used math cubes to measure all sorts of classroom items. After reading Best in Snow, we took our science outside a few times and observed snow changing, refreezing and slush and we tried to identify winter animals (not many to see). Chapel went over the story of Samuel listening to God so we’ll have the Cana miracle next week. Monkey and Duck Quack Up was a fun library story that reinforced simple rhyming. We talked about Dr. King's message of treating everyone fairly and using our words. The white egg/brown egg experiment really reinforced that, see what they say. Finally, we enjoyed some Mm foods, m&m’s in a mix and magic muffins, how magical.

Ms. Linda had us singing interactive winter songs and we ice skated on paper plates to classical music. We created our animals grow bulletin board art in partners and we also played a headbands game that reinforced that adult/baby vocabulary! The letter Nn had us eating Nilla wafers for snack, hammering nails into styrofoam cups, making nests, painting with our noses and sorting noodles in fun ways. We did plenty of math work writing numbers and counting in so many ways. We wrote our name by making caterpillars, check out our bulletin board. We also started our time talk using "before, during and after" terms as well as yesterday, today and tomorrow, keep working on that, it's a hard concept. Chapel talked about Cana and we played with water to see how volume is measured. At gym we worked our arms, legs and everything in between with cardio stations and library brought the story of Ninja Red Riding Hood
