To wrap up our imagination unit we heard about Beckle at library time, interesting. The miracle of Jesus calming the storm made us play with real water and toy boats and we painted calm and story seas and added Jesus afterwards, they look great! We examined art in many forms all around us. We made a class quilt in a mosiac style, so colorful. We made mosiac designs with various wooden shapes, we sketched still life art from things in our class and we painted with Q-tips to make unique dot art inspired from Dots! Dots! Dots! In dramatic pray we saw art in our dress up cart and with our puppet shows , art is truly everywhere. Letter Qq had us quacking and spelling that from our Qq song ("Quentin's duck went quack...") and we loved the book Q is for Duck, an alphabet guessing game. Gym had us moving as a group playing sharks and minnows. Finally, we loved eating donuts with Dad and showing him our classroom and giving our fun gifts to him, priceless.
We listened to the story of Martha and Mary and thought about times we listen and times we're busy. We loved reviewing letters N-O, with secret show and tell! We used pinchers to design letter Pp and began building art with one of 3 material choices, stay tuned. We also started our Dad gift (it's a surprise) so not much to say there. With a snow day in the middle of an already short week, we still had great play and learn times, especially in gym doing instruments, balancing and stilts. Later we met up again with Pre-K to play the alphabet motion game. Finally we thoroughly enjoyed Alphabet Under Construction which tied into our letter review as well as our imagination unit focus of building materials.
Love love love, that's what it's all about like the song says. We loved decorating our Valentines mailboxes, mailing our valentines and making heart garland for our lovely classroom. We did tie this into our imagination tools by talking about all the things we can use to make a valentine and more! Even with a snow day we heard about Zacchaeus then created a picture sequence to review the story. Pajama day was rescheduled and Pp was celebrated with gusto. We saw an imaginative trip to the moon video of Peppa Pig and we played pin the heart on the donkey in gym class. We celebrated Liliana's birthday early and loved the m&m's!!

The groundhog didn't see his shadow so we were out in the mild temps all week, yahoo! Therefore the unplanned fire drill on Monday (mechanical malfunction) went well evacuating the building as excellent school leaders, so proud. This tied nicely into the importance of listening as we heard the story of Howard B. Wigglebottom in library. We embraced using our best imagination as we started this BigDay unit that is full of fun thinking experiences (see pic). The Ten Black Dots book challenged us to use dots, we used oooorange ones, to make a picture, check them out. We also worked on letter Oo, a tricky one, yet they were outstanding with show-n- tell and created the oval art as only true artists can. At gym, we ran the track, a shape of a giant O, moving our large muscles in many ways, running, skipping, bear crawling, crab walking etc. Finally we played with recyclables and imagined all kinds of cool creations, it is inspiring to see their minds explore. Finally, ask us about the silly book titled Would You Rather..., I challenge you to reread it with them and see what you'd rather... ha!
