Happy Thanksgiving! We had 3 days of fun and we focused on giving thanks and then we feasted with our PreK friends. Making muffins was fun along with some painted turkeys, thankful writings and silly turkey stories, gobble gobble
Letter Hh brought hopping in the hall and in gym class, sorting of candy hearts, making handprints, cutting out paper houses and hearing a great story Ms. Jane read There's No Place Like Home. We also began memorizing our home address! We wrapped up our community unit by focusing on how things move using science kits with ramps, wheels, and pulleys, while also talking about routes to get to places I think we understand and value GPS a bit more now. We heard the story of Baby Moses at chapel and wove a basket to reinforce that special story of how he was saved. Last but NOT least, we filled our class bucket so we're voted and are going to have a donut party at snack to celebrate!
Gg is for grandparents and we were thrilled to have them visit and share the story of Abraham at chapel on Tuesday. G worked our guessing skills, it's tricky. We also made gingerbread cookies to eat that went with our Ninjabread Man story and the candy art we made for our room. Our community unit focused on community jobs and you should hear what we want to be when we grow up to help our community. Mrs. Vega read a great book, see the link below that inspired us at centers to just add glitter to our gray paint we made. Gym had us racing relays inside since it was chilly, and the newly renovated science lab was tons of fun to visit. We mapped out our stations and worked in partners to move through all kinds of learning. Finally, we connected with Mrs. Deane's 2s and taught them how to build even bigger towers, it was great.
Nov 4- 8
We opened our next BigDay unit of Our Community as we identified places in our community. We made an unique mural of a Pre-K community with custom buildings, it's posted in the library! We compared 2 stories about trips to the library, it was great cognitive work (ask us about Lola and Froggy). We used our imagination a great deal as we "drove" around to various places and built buildings with domino blocks too. We even wrote about how we can help in our community, it's impressive. We also fffffffocused on letter Ff with feather sorting, fish games, goldfish snacks, feelings bingo and fire engine play. Chapel had us listen to Jonah and the whale and remember to listen to God, it can be hard but we don't want to learn like Jonah did that's for sure.
