Apr 29 - May 3
We focused on Mom a great deal but that's all we can say until next week! We also wrapped up our Nature Around Us theme with some art and stories about the seasons. Our bulletin board looks great and The Apple Pie Tree reviewed the concept with pictures and words! The letter Ww had us wiggling every body part we could, painting with watercolors, making windmills and webs and building with wooden blocks. Chapel's message tied in nicely with our monthly theme as it emphasized taking care of God's creation. Like last week we continued our green talks and loved playing recycle relays at gym class. I Walk with Vanessa was a great story PreK heard along with Wacky Wednesday, who knew Ww could be so wonderful. Finally, Widget, James's dog, came in for show-n-tell, how special.
A short busy busy week back as we exclaim "Jesus is alive!". Ask us about the explosive egg experiment. Letters T-V brought unicorns again, teeth, trucks, vinegar and more at show-n-tell. The nature focus was on weather and we made wind with straws, sorted pictures according to the conditions. We celebrated Earth Day (see below) a few days later but briefly talked about how we need to help take care of the Earth, it's everybody's home. We did a weather workout at gym, it was fun! Finally we made our wishlist for the bookfair, we know they are just suggestions, thanks for any support you can give to the book fair. Hope to see you at Spring Fling on Saturday April 27th 10-noon for some great fun rain or shine.
Apr 8-12 (OFF week of Apr 15-19)
We had the Pre-K supper and tried to understand how special our snack of pita and grape juice was (THANKS for the donations). Pastor Dyan also showed us a Tanzanian art piece that shows the last supper. We sang the Vv song and drew little volcanos and we made some playdough ones as well. Our nature focus was on the sky and what's in it. When we heard the story of Little Cloud and were inspired to paint some, check the hallway. In small groups we also added sun, clouds and rain to our blooming flowers board to reinforce the sky concept. Getting ready for Easter, we hunted to the alphabet in the playground at gym then we used scooters, tossed bean bags into flowers and tried some tricky ring tossing. Since we filled our jellybean jar bulletin board we ate REAL jellybeans at snack after we sorted and counted and compared them to other handfuls at centers along with bunny card counting and find the "eggxact match" paper. We're so excited for Easter, Lent is almost finished and we're ready to enjoy.
Apr 1 - 5
Letter Uu had us under the table drawing, playing up/down and under in gym, reading under umbrellas and creating lovely umbrella art for our "April showers brings May flowers" board. We began our BigDay unit titled Nature Around Us with Mrs. Falconio Counting in the Garden, and Mrs. Walker sequencing how a plant grows with art attached to review it at Pre-K centers. MS. Linda had us singing songs that show us how a plant grows from seed to flower, we thank God for all of this. We made palms to act out the bible story as we're days away from our Easter break. Our Easter jellybean jar is already looking quite full after 1 week of focusing on kindness at school, unbelievable! ShowNTell was magical with lots of unicorns, we compared and contrasted them, it was a great lesson.
