With snow interrupting 2 days, we plowed through the best we could! We prepared for Easter making lovely 3-D baskets for the hallway. Our snacktime was special with all of Pre-K having a last supper of bread and grape juice to "remember Jesus" and we created a last supper table for our bulletin board with the foods we would share with Jesus, read our offerings. We know Lent is almost over so we celebrated with an egg hunt finding lettered eggs and a small sweet treat! March seemed to finish off with lamb weather winning on OUR chart but overall we know there have been many lion days as well. Enjoy the week off with your family and friends and know we'll return joyous that Jesus did something more amazing than the cross sacrifice.
We enjoyed talking about taking care of ourselves and we LOVED to play first aid using stethoscopes, needles, thermometers bandaids and more. We wrote about how we can stay healthy and it's posted on our door. We began talking about healthy foods as well to broaden the concept. We played with toothpicks in a variety of ways, painted with toothbrushes, danced with tap shoe dancing (lmore videos coming had some tech issues again) and we built great train tracks along with some competitive tic-tac-toe games. We heard at chapel how Jesus who is so popular now, rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and we sang "Hosanna" then made the first part of our Easter 1-2-3 mural, check it out. We snuck outside a little though it's cold and we enjoyed the serpentine stations at gym that really got our heart pumping. Library celebrated those mischievous leprechauns with a story of how they visited Gingerbread Man's school. We had a similar experience in our class, check out the pics!
Mar 5 - 9
We began talking about our 5 senses. Aside from the snow day and delay we were able to get in some senses activities like guessing art, sound walk, blind building, and drawing in salt and sugar in addition to the sound band we marched to on Friday, it was loud! Ms Linda had us doing windy songs with scarves for this March weather, it was fun The letter Ss let us trace stencils, sort buttons, move magnets in sand, slither on the rug and have scooter races in gym! We briefly heard about the miracle of the loaves and fishes and sang a great song about it. With Donuts with Dad rescheduled, we had to shelve our "SuperDad" gift until next week, but it's super. Our lion and lamb weather days bring about great discussion and hope for spring weather soon. Finally, in library we followed with Duck on a Tractor and we worked on making inferences from the story, great brain work.
Feb 26 - Mar 2
We focused on the arts this week, playing instruments for music, using dress ups for drama, and painting for art. We made puppets and used our imaginations to tell funny stories. We also learned about impressionism and made various dot paintings. The letter Rr had us painting rainbows with watercolors that we mixed, spelling our name in rice, rhyming with -it, -in, -op word families, and playing with rescue heroes and felt characters to making some amazing adventures in our minds. We reviewed patterns with shapes and heard about Harold and the Purple Crayon and made a story of our own. We checked in on our lenten work as we wrote about who we pray for while more handprints on Jesus have been generated. Chapel reminded us another miracle Jesus performed on a sick man that was brought through the roof by his friends, what faith they had! Library introduced the story of Duck on a Bike with more duck adventures next week. Gym had us running relay races, what fun, we've really got the format down now then we enjoyed playing with the rainbow parachute with "rainbow popcorn balls" to toss around. Finally, we tried ranch dressing on carrots for snack, yummy and congrats on those who tried it for the first time.
