Jan 29 - Feb 2
We started off our week strumming a guitar with Ms. Linda and we identified our favorite animal. We celebrated Oo in centers with oval art, oreo math and oreo cream games, and octupus drawings. We love the Oo song about an octupus, ask us to sing it (oh me oh my...). We heard a great story of friendship in Otis and we enjoyed some new floor toys that encouraged large group play, good social and emotional development happening here. We reviewed numbers by hanging matching number mittens and played some rhyming bingo that was fun. Chapel highlighted the story of Jesus healing the two blind men so we followed up with grateful thoughts on what we "see" everyday. We prepared for Groundhog day, graphed our predictions, played with light in a "burrow" (under a table) and sequenced pictures and heard a fun story titled Gregory's Shadow. Check out our shadows in the hallway, they used many skills to create. Finally, we rallied our Eagles spirit in gym with football stations, in art with fingerpainted signs and homemade pom poms and in music with singing the fight song for our Superbowl pep rally.

We enjoyed a little more Eagles victory fun with Ms. Linda as we danced with shakers to the a classic sports anthem. We also shared a special Ealges cake with our classmates on parade day! Our imagination is stirred up right away with Not a Box story, amazing what we turned a box into!! We reviewed the entire alphabet all week with stamping,, dot stickers, mitten matches, go fish magnet letters and much more. The sound box was too much fun picking out items and seeing what gets put "in the trash" if it doesn't match. Chapel highlighted Jesus' baptism and we enjoyed talking about this personal event with our Pre-K classmates. Library brought on the story of the cow jumping over the moon with lots of fun rhyming tales.
Feb 12 - 16
We began with tool talk. We identified tools we use to create things and then got into it by making great bags for our valentines. We used all kinds of art tools doing it. We also created designs using popsicle sticks (letter Pp) , playdough and colored pencils that reviewed the color words. We also set out science tools and explored magnifiers, a scale, rulers and some water droppers just for fun. We graphed candy heart and counted them and compared piles, it was fun We did spread the love when we mailed valentines but we also tied that feeling into our Lent theme of "high five" Jesus daily doing things that others may not see but Jesus always does! We snuck in another chapel lesson on calming the storm before getting ashes on Wednesday, just a mark of love. We will count down the 40 days and try to follow a class path doing good actions to get closer to Jesus, we're excited. The story of Pete's a Pizza had us making pizzas with our bodies then with paper, what fun. We always love Pre-K gym and all stations that challenge our muscle and cooperation skills.

Our focus was on building so we used legos, recycled items, sticks, straw and anything else we had in our classroom! Our imagination and tools came alive after hearing The Three Little Pigs story. The letter Qq brought out Q-tips and we used them to create some beautiful art. We also created a classroom quilt that is hanging in the hallway, to be autographed soon and we used some art tools to create the February journal page. Gym introduced Otis, a gorilla that challenges us to coordinate and balance both our upper and lower body parts, it was challenging at times! Library highlighted a quirky book Q is for duck and we loved solving the riddles. Chapel talked about the miracle of Jesus walking on water so we talked about keeping our eyes on Jesus in happy and sad times, he can always help us. He is watching and we know it as we continue to give him high fives with our kind behavior and words at school. Feel free to send in a note if you catch a "high five" action at home (without prompting, the key!) and we will add hands to our board.
