Jan 28 - Feb 1 We completed out animal unit with books and games on animal names, how they grow and change really enjoying Dora's Eggs and we love playing find the chick game. Letter Nn had us playing with noodles play and making a nest. We had a ball putting together number puzzles. Incredible Ned was a great N story and will carry us into our imagination unit as well, ask us about it. Chapel talked about following Jesus like the disciples were called. We made footprints for our bulletin board that remind us to do that Due to snow we stayed in and made some great snow art for our Winter Fun bulletin board then we were delayed an hour the next day (guess it worked!) We tested our brain about time and played with puppets showing things happening before, during and after or yesterday, today and tomorrow. Also, we loved banging on Ms. Linda's special drum to review animals and keep the beat! (see pics) Jan 21 - 25 We had a full 3 days focusing on bugs, letters K-M and baptism, phew! We read One Snowy Day and created awesome snowmen in our journal entry! This tied into our gym class where we built snowmen in relay race format. We also talked about Dr. King a bit more and much of the play options involved working things out with our classmates, disagreeing, finding solutions, and saying how we feel, it is NOT as easy as it sounds. We enjoyed our bugs talks, playdough creations and fingerprint art as well. We also liked graphing M&M's seeing which color won (and NOT eating them, impressive), simply counting them for math. Jan 14 - 18 We dove into this week exploring animal habitats like the ocean (water table), the desert (sand box) and the rainforest (fake flowers and crepe paper vines), it was great imaginative and social play. We did what monkeys do and mimicked moves all week! We made magic muffins for snack adding a special mix in of their choice. We painted to music, measured many things short and long with measuring sticks, marble painted, counted marshmallows and money and matched mittens while reviewing the Mm sound! Ms. Linda's music was fun as we danced to the story Animal Boogie. Gym had us moving individually then as a group working together as we played 1-2-3 Move. Library was fun as we talked about feelings in Mother Bruce. Chapel reminded us that Jesus grew (try this fingerplay, it's longer than the one we did in school) as we do and it's important to listen to your parents! We got outside and experienced the snow getting a sense of the artic habitat, happy winter (see movement song). Jan 7 - 11
We finished the Christmas story with wisemen talk at chapel. The art posted in the hallway to review this is precious, enjoy. We read Biggest, Strongest, Fastest and marveled at the comparisons, ask us! The class readmuch of the repetitive text in Is Your Mama a Llama? as we learned some new vocabulary for animal babies, fun. Ll had us lacing shoes (that was sooooo hard), making lollipops and playing with legos. We challenged our link skills connecting them around the tables and out the door! We played freeze dance with letters, stamped, traced and wrote them in our journals and put letter puzzles together, lots of ways to get recognition and sound without the pressure. Ms. Linda had use moving like animals then quoting Psalm 46. Gym tested our limbo skills and library story showed Jesus, a toddler, receiving the gifts! Finally, as part of our new plans for the new year, we have been pouring our own water into our cups at snack, pretty impressive. Jan 1 - 4 Happy New Year! We're back and in 2 days we kicked things off nicely. Letter Kk helped with that in gym class along with some of Mrs. Falconio's karate moves and silly kangaroo relay races. We read Does A Kangaroo have a Mother? which also tied into our monthly unit on animals. We're excited to learn so much about this topic!! We began writing about what's new in the new year besides the number so stay tuned for some artwork there. Music, library and chapel will begin next week when we get back to the full 4 days. Here we go.....
